It all began with two men accidentally crossing each other's paths in a luxurious lobby of a deluxe hotel in Manila. Two men both gifted with a discerning nose for business and an insatiable taste for challenges...
Mr. Deniel M. Nielsen, an Australian developer, chanced upon Mr. Lui Chi Hang, a Chinese businessman in the Philippines, in the latter's establishment in Manila Midtown Hotel. In the course of this meeting, business transactions transpired in an unconventional manner putting each man's honesty, honor and integrity to a test. The results of that test had been more than positive! Moreover, this business relationship in the onset blossomed into a friendship that bordered on trust and confidence. And that same trust and confidence paved the way to a mutual interest in conducting a business venture.
The Conception and BirthBoth men's noses for business coupled with a highly reliable instinct led to the founding of an aluminum and glass company named Fast Glass aluminum International, Inc. located in Paco, Manila. Hardwork and attention to detail contributed to the company's pioneering in imported, high-end quality shower enclosures and later extending its services to residential and commercial windows. A year later, Fast Glass Aluminum International, Inc. moved its operations to V. Luna, Quezon City under its new registered name Clearview Aluminum International, Inc.
During the height of the boom in the construction industry in 1992, Clearview Aluminum International, Inc. further progressed with the increased demand for all types of construction material. Again, operations had to be moved to a larger venue and so it was in Malinta,Valenzuela. The move prompted the company to increase its manpower by 500% and open up showrooms in San Juan and Manila Midtown Hotel to advance its services and subsequently promote product awareness.
In 1994, Clearview Aluminum International, Inc. matured to what is now as Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. giving emphasis on Australian quality delivered in hospitality, craftmanship and service of the new Filipino worker.
In 1995, Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. began branching out, setting up regional office in the most urbanized area of the the South, the Queen City itself, Cebu. Gradually, the vision of both men is coming to life: to spread its wings and fly across the nation.
In 1998, Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. directed a big move having an ultimate aim to render excellence in quality and service with no compromise. This aim was to be achieved through the centralization of all its showroom, factory, fabrication, Sales and Administration offices in a 4,000 square meter compound located in Vergara St., Mandaluyong City called Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. Centre.
The Tragic LossIn the same year that Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. was in the process of proliferation, the industry suffered a great loss with the demise of one of its partners and founders, Mr. Lui Chi Hang. This loss was accompanied with downcast hopes, growing doubts and the question, "who will sow what Mr. Lui Chi Hang has reaped?"
The Seed
The business will move on in tribute of the memory of Mr. Lui Chi Hang. His nose for business reigns still in the person of his youngest son, Mr. Lui C. Wai, who at the age of 25 years has in fact established himself as an entrepreneur in possession of a retail and export business in fine jewelry.
Before his father departed the world, Mr. Wai had voluntarily gone through hands-on training in all departments of the company in order to gain insight and added knowledge and to assist in the business, any way he can. He devoted much of his time squeezing extra hours in his already hectic schedule. Acquiring knowledge in a totally different line of work had been a great challenge for Mr. Wai. More so, putting together what he has amassed had not been an easy task.
In the absence of his father, not only was Mr. Wai required to learn the ropes of the business from scratch, he was set out to prove himself worthy as the new leader of the company and not simply the "heir to throne". True enough, his leadership and management skills were put to the utmost test during economic crunch that hit the entire nation, middle of 1998. Tourism, production, manufacturing, export and other industries including construction yielded downward slopes in their performance. Companies began folding up left and right without the exception of construction companies. Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. however, under the firm grip of Mr. Wai, refused to follow this trend.
To Mr. Wai, weathering the storm in 1998 did not make him sit back and relax. He did not put a stop to the learning and the struggling. In his mind, another crisis, may hit the country and this time with a bigger blow, "It is better to be prepared for the worst prospect.", Mr. Wai states when asked about his work perspective.
Presently, Mr. Wai has taken the name of Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. away from obscurity in the industry, making it synonymous to aluminum building materials. He has inspired professionalism among his employees by setting the example himself. He has emphasized excellence in every deed he deems worth doing passing his work habit on to his team of dedicated employees.
In all those trying times, Mr. Nielsen was with Mr. Wai every step of the way shedding light in areas where it had become dim along the way. His shared wisdom was made useful by Mr. Wai in his undertakings. His fatherly support was, and still is, of great value to Mr. Wai.
The Aust-Phils TraditionThe founders and leaders of Aust-Phils Aluminum International, Inc. have instilled in their employees, totaling a number of 120, the company's everyday mission:
"Product quality, excellent service and customer satisfaction is our commitment...and that has always been our tradition."
